"Waiting for the Kettle"
So, what does an artist do when she is supposed to be packing for a trip? That's right - paint.
I wanted to play with this one some more, I was having fun with the reflections but I'm sticking to my no more than 2 hours on a painting goal. I hope that will make me faster and will allow me to paint more often.

Now I'm off to pack.

Available: $50 + $10 shipping. Or send me an e-mail.

"Yellow Pepper"
SOLD

I took a fantastic workshop this weekend with Carol Marine. I learned so much! I plan on painting much more often. This is one of my favorites from the workshop - painted in 1 - 1 1/2 hours. That's huge for me! I've been wasting so much time trying to mix a large amount of the exact color with a palette knife on my palette instead of mixing the correct color with my brush and applying immediately.

We visited our dear friends Al & Jeni this weekend. They have a studio in Spring Branch. It felt good to play with clay again. I haven't thrown in years. The whole family had fun!

"45 Minute Apple"
SOLD

I've been wanting to paint lately but have been really busy. I had a 45 minute block of time today and almost didn't paint but decided to just do what I could in 45 minutes. I think it turned out pretty well considering I had such a short amount of time.

No time to paint lately.

My daughter celebrated her 4th birthday (4th! how did that happen so fast?)

I've had lots of web work to do. Including giving my site a much needed update. I really enjoy designing new sites but I sure miss my paint.

I set up a still life the other day and sort of liked it. I worked on it for about an hour and a half. I came back to it today and worked on it for 2 more hours. Any sort of liking this still life feelings were gone. I didn't like it at all. I should have just scraped the paint off and started on something else. I wasn't going to bother posting this at all, but what the hell, it's all part of the process right?

I'm going to go scrape paint now.

"Cluster"
SOLD

This little painting had lots of interruptions. I worked on it for several days in little blocks of time. It was hard to get in the groove working that way.

"Radish Roots"
SOLD

This took entirely too long to finish - almost 7 hours. I don't know what I was thinking when I set up this still life. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out - even though it ended up a lot tighter than I would like to paint.

This bowl is one my dear friends Al & Jeni Hoeksema made. Their beautiful work has been featured in many of my still lives. Check out their cool site (I built it for them :)

I haven't posted for a few days but I have been doing "art stuff".

Inspired by a georgeous pen & ink drawing by Liz Patterson of her niece, I decided to do a sketch of my daughter. Um, well, mine didn't turn out nearly as well.

I worked on a website I designed and am trying to finish up. Ok, I don't really consider that something to put in my "art journal" but it took some creativity.

Finally, I watched a Helen Van Wyk video. Very helpful information. I have her book Color Recipes and refer to it often.

I did a painting yesterday. I'll post it once I take a picture.
