I hope this isn't too much personal information for a painting blog...but in case you're wondering why I haven't been posting, I'm having a bout of depression. It's been an ongoing problem for me for as long as I can remember. Hard to imagine with my bright use of color isn't it? I've tried to paint a few times lately but I end up wiping them off. Anyhoo, I'm not in any danger or anything, just trying to cope. Hopefully you'll check back soon and see lots of new paintings.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I suffer from the same problem, so I know what you mean. I just found something that has been really helpful... My husband bought me one of those light boxes that you sit in front of for 30 minutes every morning (from Northern Lights Technologies), and it has helped me tremendously. I'm really kind of surprised.... always thought that kind of thing was rather gimicky.
I hope you feel better soon. I like checking in on your blog every few days to see what you are creating. Andrea (AndreaShish.blogspot.com)
Hi! I'm sorry you are not feeling well. In harmony with Andrea I went through a period of depression as well. Some good advice I also received was to 'act as you would if you were not depressed' (in other words ACT like the happy person you usually are). And soon you will feel better! You are on the right tract by continuing to paint. Only STOP WIPING IT OFF! You know how we artists are . . .some paintings we may not like until days or years later. You may like what you have done later perhaps. Anyway, I LOVE your work. FEEL BETTER SOON!!!
Thanks for the support guys. Things are starting to look better.
I do the "act" as if I'm not depressed thing too. I've been trying to get outside more and exercise. I think it helps. I haven't tried the light box but living in South Texas there is tons of sunlight - I just need to get in it more I guess.
Life is short and precious...kick that depression out the door!! Perhaps volunteer to help others if you have any spare time, and you will soon find that you've forgotten your troubles and cares and realize your own self worth! Keep up the good work painting! It's a gift not to be neglected! Hope you're feeling well soon. Jeanne :)
Hi Brendy, It's been wonderful to see you back at it- depression can be rough!
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your paintings, and thank you for sharing a shot of your studio with us. Your wall of paintings rocks! Happy Holidays :)

Dude, depression doesn't discriminate. Artists are not immune. A few years back, I wrote about my own battle with it and how I started on anti-depressants. I'm still on them. Sometimes, it's just that I have too much grief for this world. I hope you climb out from behind that dark curtain soon. --Barb
